How to Get the WhatsApp Blue Tick: Requirements and Cost
The blue tick is the badge that shows your customer they are chatting with the right business. On WhatsApp there are two routes to it: the Meta Verified (now Meta One) subscription in the Business app, and the official business account application for API users. Based on Meta's official sources, we explain the requirements, the cost and the application steps.
When a customer looks at your business name on WhatsApp and sees a small check mark next to it, they relax. One of the questions we get most often is exactly this: how do you get the WhatsApp blue tick, what does it cost, and who can get it? The answer depends on where you use your number. The WhatsApp Business app on your phone, or the WhatsApp Business API?
What does the blue tick mean on WhatsApp?
The blue tick is the badge that shows Meta has verified the account. According to WhatsApp's help page, Meta makes this decision by looking at the account's activity on Meta apps or at the information and documents the business provides. The badge appears in chats, on the business profile, in the calls tab and on calls from a verified business.
The badge's job is to build trust. The customer understands they are chatting with the right business. In Meta's documentation we see no privilege tied to the badge, such as delivery rate or quality rating, so it is worth setting your expectations accordingly.
Where did the green tick go? In Turkey many people still say "green tick". In Meta's current developer documentation, official business accounts have a blue check mark next to their name. It is the same badge you are looking for; the color changed.
Two routes to the blue tick: which is yours?
There are two separate doors for businesses on WhatsApp. One is Meta's paid subscription; the other is the official business account application, open to businesses that use the API. You can see which one suits you quickly in the table.
| Topic | Meta Verified / Meta One subscription | Official business account (API) |
|---|---|---|
| Who is it for? | Businesses that use the WhatsApp Business app | Businesses that use the WhatsApp Business API |
| Where do you apply? | Inside the WhatsApp Business app | Through WhatsApp Manager |
| Cost | Monthly subscription; the price varies by region and plan | The documentation mentions no separate subscription fee for applying |
| Main requirement | The plan being available in your account, and Meta's verification | Business verification, 30 days, two-step verification, an approved display name |
| Is the badge guaranteed? | No | No, Meta makes the decision |
What is Meta Verified for Business, and how do you get it?
Meta Verified is a paid monthly subscription offered in the WhatsApp Business app. Alongside the badge, it brings benefits such as protection against impersonation, in-app support and a business web page.
Is it available in your account?
It is not open to everyone. It is easy to check: in the WhatsApp Business app, go to Settings or Business Tools and look for the Meta Verified option. If you can't see it, Meta is not yet offering this subscription to you. Meta also decides which plan opens to whom; it looks at the business's activity on WhatsApp, for example the volume of conversations with customers.
What is in the plans?
WhatsApp's official page lists four plans. All of them include the badge, impersonation protection and a business web page. The differences are as follows:
- Business Standard: in-app support, one verified channel, linking up to four devices.
- Business Plus: priority support, three verified channels, six devices and business broadcast messages (business broadcasts).
- Business Premium: ten protected business accounts, five verified channels, eight devices.
- Business Max: fifty protected business accounts, ten verified channels, ten devices.
What happens after you pay?
Your application goes to Meta. According to Meta, the review can take up to three business days and may take longer during busy periods. The result comes out in one of three ways: your business is verified automatically from your activity on Meta, you are asked for documents, or the subscription starts without the verification option.
Payment is not a badge guarantee. WhatsApp's help page is clear: subscribing does not automatically bring the badge, and sending documents does not guarantee approval. Even if no badge appears, the other benefits in the plan continue.
There is good news for businesses that already have a badge. Your existing badge stays in place; you don't need to do anything.
Meta One has arrived; what happens to Meta Verified?
In September 2026, Meta announced a new subscription service called Meta One. According to Meta's explanation, Meta One is built on top of Meta Verified: in addition to verification and impersonation protection, it offers new features and more AI use across Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. The Meta Verified page also says these features are now part of Meta One.
Here is what changes on the badge side. Meta One's Essential, Advanced, Expert and Max plans give the right to apply for a badge to those who meet the eligibility requirements. In Meta's announcement, the Essential plan appears at a starting price of $14.99 a month. Meta One is in limited testing for now and is not open in every country; which plan you will see in Turkey, and at what price, is shown by the app itself.
How do you get the blue tick on the WhatsApp Business API?
If you use the API, the route is different. Here the official name of the badge is Official Business Account. According to Meta's developer documentation, there are five requirements for you to be eligible:
- Your business complies with the WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy.
- The number has been registered on the WhatsApp Business Platform for at least 30 days.
- The business portfolio that owns the number has passed Meta business verification.
- Two-step verification is turned on for the number.
- The number's display name has been approved.
For most businesses, the step that takes longest is business verification. We explained which documents are requested step by step in our Meta business verification guide.
Where do you apply?
The application goes through WhatsApp Manager. The route Meta describes is, in short:
- In WhatsApp Manager, go to the Overview screen and click your number.
- If two-step verification is off, turn it on.
- Press the Submit Request button under Phone numbers > Profile > Official business account.
Meeting the requirements is half the job. Meta makes the decision, so completing every item on the list does not mean approval.

In short, there are two separate accounts, and they must not be mixed up.
- Meta Verified and Meta One: a monthly subscription. The price varies by region and plan; you see the current price in the app. For Meta One Essential, the starting price Meta has announced is $14.99 a month.
- Official business account (API): Meta's documentation mentions no separate subscription fee for applying. The API's own cost is separate: Meta's message fees and the plan fee of the solution partner you work with.
We explained which message Meta charges for and when in our WhatsApp Business API pricing guide. You can also find Chatopya's plans on our pricing page.
Can you build trust without a blue tick?
Yes. The badge is a good sign but not the only one. An approved display name, a business profile filled in with address, working hours and website, and a familiar logo tell the customer a lot. On the API side, business verification and an approved display name are required anyway; the badge is a layer on top of them.
We also often see this: offers that promise a "guaranteed blue tick". Only Meta gives the badge. Neither a subscription nor any intermediary can guarantee approval.
