WhatsApp Business API pricing: calculate your monthly cost
Choose the country of your customers and enter how many messages you send a month. We use Meta's current per-message rates, the 1,000 free service messages and volume tiers.
In short: as of October 26, 2026, Meta charges $0.0109 per marketing message, $0.0009 per utility message, $0.0009 per authentication message and $0.0009 per service message beyond the free quota sent to a number in Türkiye. 1,000 marketing messages cost about $10.90.
Prices are for information only. The binding amount is the one on the invoice Meta issues to you.

Prices are for information only and exclude taxes. Meta may change its rates; the binding amount is the one on your Meta invoice.
Which message falls into which category?
The category is chosen when you create a template, and it decides most of the bill. Here is how the four categories split in practice.
| Category | Typical messages | How it is charged |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing | Campaigns, discount codes, new products, cart reminders, win-back messages | Every delivered message, no volume tiers. The most expensive category. |
| Utility | Order confirmation, shipping and delivery updates, invoices, appointment reminders | Every delivered message, also inside the 24-hour window since October 2026. Gets cheaper with monthly volume. |
| Authentication | Login and verification codes (OTP) | Every delivered message, with volume tiers. Some countries apply a higher international rate to businesses based abroad. |
| Service | Free-form replies within 24 hours after the customer writes | The first 1,000 per business number each month are free; every reply after that is charged. |
What does an online store in Türkiye pay a month?
One business number, customers in Türkiye, today's Meta rates. A mid-sized store that runs a few campaigns a month and sends order and shipping updates for every order.
| Message | Per month | Meta fee |
|---|---|---|
| Campaigns (marketing) | 10,000 | $109.00 |
| Order and shipping updates (utility) | 20,000 | $18.00 |
| Login codes (authentication) | 2,000 | $1.80 |
| Replies to customers (service, 1,000 free) | 5,000 | $3.60 |
| Total | 37.000 | 132,40 $ ≈ 6.574 TL |
Campaigns make up about 82% of the bill even though they are under a third of the messages. In Türkiye a marketing message costs roughly 12 times a utility message, so the template category matters more than the total volume.
Four rules behind the number
Per message, by recipient country
Meta charges each delivered message. The price depends on the category and on the recipient's country code, not on where your business is.
1,000 free service messages
Replies inside the 24-hour window are charged since October 2026, but the first 1,000 each month are free for every business number.
Volume tiers
Utility and authentication get cheaper as monthly volume grows. The lower rate applies only to messages inside that tier, like tax brackets.
Click-to-WhatsApp is free
Conversations started from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad open a free window of up to 7 days. We leave those out, so your real bill can be lower.
Four ways to lower your WhatsApp bill
Start conversations with Click-to-WhatsApp ads
If the customer comes from the ad and you reply within 24 hours, messages for up to 7 days are free. That works especially well for campaign periods. Meta ads management
Keep utility templates free of promotion
An order update with a discount line can be moved to marketing by Meta and cost several times more. Keep the promotion in a separate template. Template approval guide
Segment your marketing list
Sending a campaign only to people who are likely to care cuts the most expensive line on the bill and keeps block rates low. Bulk WhatsApp campaigns
Keep accounts in one business portfolio
Meta counts volume tiers across all WhatsApp accounts of one business portfolio. Accounts split across portfolios reach the cheaper tiers later.
What changed in WhatsApp pricing on 1 October 2026?
Many pricing articles online still describe the old rules. These are the changes that affect your bill.
- Service messages are charged again. Each business number keeps 1,000 free service messages a month.
- Utility templates sent inside the 24-hour customer service window are no longer free.
- Accounts without a payment method stop delivering service messages once the free quota is used up.
- Morocco, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Ukraine and Kazakhstan left their regional rate and got their own prices; marketing rates rose in several markets.
How does Meta charge for WhatsApp messages?
Per message. Two things set the price: the message category (marketing, utility, authentication or service) and the country code of the recipient's phone number. If a shop in Istanbul writes to a customer in Germany, the German rate applies.
Are our replies to customers charged too?
Since 1 October 2026, yes. Free-form replies sent within 24 hours after a customer writes count as service messages. Each business phone number gets 1,000 free service messages a month; charges start from the 1,001st. Unused messages do not roll over.
Is there any case where we pay nothing?
Yes. If a customer writes to you from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad and you reply within 24 hours, a free entry point window opens. It can stay open for up to 7 days, and marketing, utility, authentication and service messages sent inside it are free.
Does the price drop when we send a lot?
For utility and authentication messages, yes. Meta sets monthly volume tiers per country and category; once you reach a tier, the messages in that tier are billed at the lower rate. The count resets at the start of each month. Marketing and service messages have no tiers.
How accurate is the estimate?
We pull the rates every day from Meta's own pricing calculator, so unit prices are current. The result is still an estimate: taxes and messages sent in a free entry point window are not included. The TRY amount uses the Central Bank of Türkiye selling rate, while Meta bills in your account currency.
Does Chatopya add a commission to message fees?
No. Message fees go to Meta and Chatopya adds no commission on top. Chatopya's fee is a separate item: the monthly price of the plan you choose.
Is the WhatsApp Business app paid as well?
No. The WhatsApp Business app you install on your phone is free. Per-message fees apply to messages sent through the WhatsApp Business API, which you use through a partner such as Chatopya.
Which currency does Meta bill in?
In the currency you chose when the account was created. As of 2026 Meta supports 16 currencies, but the Turkish lira is not one of them, so businesses in Türkiye are billed in a currency such as USD or EUR. The chosen currency does not change on its own later.
Is per-conversation pricing still in place?
No. On 1 July 2025 Meta moved from charging per 24-hour conversation to charging per message. You will still find articles online explaining per-conversation prices; they describe the old model.
Do the rates in the table include tax?
No. The figures are Meta's list prices before tax. Tax may be added to your invoice according to the rules of your country; the prices on this page are for information only.
